Fire at Tucson Greyhound Park destroys prominent green dome

The green dome atop Tucson Greyhound Park has been a prominent city landmark for 64 years, but it is now a pile of charred rubble.

“This is the second fire the track’s had in the 64 years,” said Tom Taylor, GM/CEO of Tucson Greyhound Park.

He says an electrical problem in the neon lighting that outlined the tower is probably what caused the fire.

Flames broke out after the first of 13 races scheduled for Thursday night.
